John Brooks is a Partner at South Capitol, a strategic consulting firm, who recently served as a Senior Advisor to the Secretary at the US Department of Health and Human Services and the Principal Deputy Director of the Center for Medicare at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Mr. Brooks has held multiple senior executive roles across the federal government, including as the Counselor to the Secretary for Health Policy at the Department of Health and Human Services, the health policy advisor at the White House Domestic Policy Council, the Senior Advisor for Drug Pricing Reform at HHS, as well as the Principal Director for the Center for Medicare at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Prior to government service, Mr. Brooks lead the Health Policy Department at the MITRE Corporation, providing policy advice and regulatory support to federal health agencies, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. A licensed attorney, Mr. Brooks holds a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, and an MBA in Corporate Financial Management from Virginia Tech.
